TORONTO -- An overwhelming majority of Canadians dont want an NFL team in Canada, especially if it means the demise of the CFL, a survey suggests. Anthony Davis Pelicans Jersey . Forty per cent of 1,007 on-line participants said they didnt want an NFL team in Canada at all while another 41 per cent added theyd welcome an NFL franchise in this country only if it co-existed with the CFL. The survey, released Sunday, was conducted in mid-November by Reginald Bibby, a professor of sociology at the University of Lethbridge, and pollster Angus Reid Global. "Theyd have to co-exist, thats the simple bottom line," Bibby said in a telephone interview. "Compared to 1995, if anything, that viewpoint seems to have solidified. "People are feeling stronger about it." According to the survey, since 95 Canadians have become more insistent that theyd only want the NFL here if the CFL continued to exist (41 per cent versus 32 per cent). Also, more care about the issue now than 18 years ago (50 per cent compared to 33 per cent). And in Bibbys mind, Vancouver is a good example of where that shift seems to have happened. "I sat there one night watching a game in about 1997 and there were 12,800 people there," he said. "You go out there now and you feel like the whole thing has come alive. "It just wouldnt surprise me that now in B.C., for example, theyre feeling a lot stronger about the fact that they want to see the CFL survive and dont want to see it disappear at all." Atlantic Canada is the only region of the country without a CFL team. However, the survey says only three per cent would welcome an NFL franchise north of the border if it meant the death of the CFL. The margin of error in the survey is plus or minus three per cent. Only 19 per cent of participants would be happy to see the NFL come to Canada even if it meant the demise of the CFL. "We dont have many things that are Canadian when you think about it," Bibby said. "The CFL, for better or worse, seems to be one of them." On Sunday, the Buffalo Bills host the Atlanta Falcons at Rogers Centre a week after the Saskatchewan Roughriders defeated the Hamilton Tiger-Cats 45-23 in the Grey Cup at Mosaic Stadium. Toronto has long been mentioned as a potential landing spot for an NFL club, but the survey says only 15 per cent of Torontonians would want a franchise here at the expense of the CFL. Eighteen per cent would be happy to see the NFL in Canada only if the CFL continued to operate with only seven per cent not wanting the NFL on Canadian soil at all. A larger percentage than in the rest of Canada, some 60 per cent, say they dont care much either way. The survey states 21 per cent of Canadians are following the NFL compared to 26 per cent for the CFL. Fourteen per cent of each fan base follows both leagues. However, the results show a large number of Canadians have a protective view of the CFL and relatively few want the NFL to come north, especially if its arrival means the demise of the CFL. "People arent troubled about the NFL coming but theres a big asterisk that they have to be assured the CFL is going to continue to live," Bibby said. "To come in and just be triumphant about the fact that Were going to bring the NFL to Canada, three cheers you should all be excited, isnt going to go over with Canadians. "In fact, that could result in a significant backlash. I just think people would have to come in and really be respectful of the importance of the CFL to Canada as a whole and make sure that they take steps to ensure the viability of the CFL." Theres also been persistent talk of the NFL eventually expanding into London. If that happened, Bibby said league officials would be advised to similarly respect the importance of soccer to the British sports culture. "The NFL would have to show the same grace if it moved to a place like London . . . and figure out a way to co-exist (with British soccer)," he said. Jrue Holiday Jersey . Subban – Scored the overtime winner and assisted on Montreal’s earlier goal, both on the power play, in a 2-1 win over Nashville.Wasps and England flanker James Haskell says he is planning to come back better and fitter after an injury-enforced spell on the sidelines. Haskell is facing four to six months out after he required reconstructive surgery on his big toe, having been injured in Englands second Test victory over Australia in Melbourne. The 31-year-old had been on the crest of a wave, having played a huge part in Englands dramatic revival under coach Eddie Jones. Jones took over following last autumns disappointing World Cup campaign on home soil, masterminding a Six Nations Grand Slam success before leading England to a stunning 3-0 series win in Australia. James Haskell posted this message on his instagram account after having surgery on his big toe. Haskell was colossal in the first two Tests in Australia, being named man of the series, even though he had to miss the final match.Asked on Sky Sports News HQ about the nature of the injury, he explained: Unfortunately, I had to have a piece of my sesamoid bone removed and some tendons re-attached.I had been playing for five or six games with anaesthetic in my foot towards the end of the season, because it just got more and more sore.I saw a specialist and nothing else was going to happen to it but then, in that second Test, I must have done something to it where I weakened something called the plantar plate, and had to have an operation.I was in for about two and a half hours under the knife and the surgeon says he has done his best work! Haskell says the England squad is a fun environment to work hard in England have another big season coming up and Haskells performances may lead to a Lions call-up next summer, but he admits such matters are currently far from his thoughts. Nikola Mirotic Pelicans Jersey. wont get carried away talking about the Lions, he said. The most important thing for me is getting back for Wasps. I was captain last season, it is my favourite club in the world, and I am disappointed not to be there with the guys training. We were meant to be back in on 1 August but I have got two weeks with my foot up and then the rehab starts. Anyone will tell you who has been injured, it is way worse than any of the training, it is going to be quite flat-out.I will try to come back as fast as I can. The surgeon said four to six months, I will try to be pushing back for four.It is a long process but I am good at compartmentalising and saying, look, Ive been playing non-stop for 14 years, this is an opportunity to come back better and fitter. In terms of my future with England, it is very important you just get back for Wasps. When I do get back for Wasps I can try to play as well as I can and, if they go well, then England may come calling after that. Haskell plans to be playing again for Wasps as soon as possible Haskell agreed that there was a feel-good factor around the England squad at the moment, to the extent that he was regularly congratulated while away on a two-week break. On holiday, every day someone came up and shook my hand and said they wanted to thank the boys for what they did, he said. The world is going to hell a bit and there are not a lot of positives around. I think fans really bought into us going on tour and I think it is really good we brought some enjoyment. From my point of view, it is not every day you get to beat southern hemisphere sides.Eddie Jones knows exactly what he is doing, he has good coaches around him, the message is clear, and we have a good captain in Dylan Hartley. We have a lot of boys with experience now who have created a very fun, positive environment, which is very hard-working.
